After an acid exposure, something that patients and individuals can do to some extent undo the damage that may be caused to the tooth would be to consume dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurt, which will then introduce calcium and phosphate in the mouth and actually have a protective effect. After an erosion challenge another approach could be to increase salivary flow. This can be done by sucking on a sugar free lozenge. I wouldn't suck on an acid sugar free losenge, but I would definately encourage people to suck on a low acid not sugar free losenge that would encourage and stimulate salivary flow. That would encourage and stimulate salivary flow. The more saliva you introduce into the mouth, the greater the potential to minimize the destructive effect of an erosive of challenge as well as encourage remineralization.
